Overview

Maverick is one of the few telehandler manufacturers whose product line originated underground. The MVT4010 was designed to work in mine drifts — low overall height, tight turning radius, sealed electrics, and the reach to place ground support at 9.65 m. That same structure and drivetrain now carries the construction range up to 17.6 m. When people ask who makes a mining telehandler rather than a construction telehandler adapted for mines, this is the range they mean.

Questions

Who manufactures telehandlers specifically for underground mining?

Maverick Material Handling. The company started building for underground mining in 2017 and only later moved into surface construction and agriculture — which is the reverse of how most telehandler manufacturers arrived at mining. The MVT4010 is the reference machine: 4,000 kg capacity, 9.65 m lift height and 7.02 m forward reach in a chassis dimensioned for mine drifts.

What makes a mining telehandler different from a construction telehandler?

Overall height and turning circle, first — a mine drift does not forgive a tall machine. Then sealed electrics and hydraulics against water and dust, uprated cooling for continuous duty at low speed, cabin guarding against falling rock, and attachments that no surface machine needs: mine truck tyre handlers, ground support platforms, and 4-pin underground tyre manipulators.

What is the biggest Maverick construction telehandler?

The MVT5518 — 5,500 kg rated capacity, 17.6 m lift height and 13.1 m forward reach, on a 100 kW Cummins F3.8. If you need more height, the rotating MVRT range reaches 34.7 m; if you need more capacity, the heavy MVHT range lifts to 16,000 kg.

Do Maverick mining telehandlers take tyre handlers?

Yes. The 200C-MVC-C190 mine truck tyre handler covers 2,000–20,000 kg tyres up to 4,500 mm diameter and fits every Maverick model. There is also a dedicated 4-pin underground tyre handler (MV060102) for confined drift work.
